Jogger on a beachWhat is Applied Kinesiology?

Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a technique, which uses muscle testing for evaluating areas of dysfunction within the body. George H. Goodheart D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic) introduced this method in 1964. Since then, research in AK has shown that many basic treatment methods in Chiropractic can produce immediate improved neuromuscular function, which can be evaluated using manual muscle testing.

AK uses muscle testing in combination with other standard methods of diagnosis - history, physical examination, blood tests, X-rays and any other relevant investigations to evaluate our structural, mental/emotional and chemical functions. Manipulation, diet, orthomolecular supplementation, homoeopathy, meridian system, exercise and education can be used therapeutically to help restore balance and maintain well being.

What can we treat?

  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Headaches, migraines
  • Shoulder problems
  • Postural abnormalities
  • Disc injuries and nerve root irritation
  • Sports injuries
  • Stress related disorders
  • Digestive complaints
  • Hormonal disturbances
  • Allergies
  • Skin complaints
  • Hyperactivity in children

AK provides a system whereby the Practitioner can work with the Patient, thereby actively involving the Patient in their treatment. This involvement lends a greater sense of responsibility by the Patient for his/her health and body awareness.
