Homeopathy is a form of medicine which uses highly diluted preparations of a substance with the aim of triggering the body’s natural system of healing.
Based on symptoms that exist in a person a remedy is chosen that best matches these symptoms. The action of the remedy then becomes homeopathic. The reaction of this 'like for like' principle stimulates the healing process.

There are hundreds of remedies available to the homeopath, all having unique qualities. One of the widely used homeopathic remedies for the common cold is Allium cepa, made from onion. The onion is well known for irritating the eyes and making the nose run when we chop it up to use for cooking. When given as a homeopathic remedy to someone suffering with streaming eyes and runny nose, it encourages and excites the body into healing and therefore alleviating the symptoms.
Coffee is a similar example, we know that it may produce nervous agitation and restlessness with palpitations if too much is consumed. The homeopathic preparation known as Coffea may be used for sleeping disorders and anxiety.
Consultations last an hour (half hour for children), during which time you will be asked a variety of questions regarding your health. One or more remedies in a tablet form will be prescribed for you to take.
With acute conditions (ie coughs, colds, exam nerves, morning sickness etc) improvement may start within minutes of taking the correctly chosen remedy. For more chronic complaints (ie eczema, asthma, hay fever, depression, hormonal disorders etc) a course of consultations is recommended with appointments between two to six weekly intervals for the first three or four sessions. Depending on the progress, frequency of appointments will be discussed. More stubborn conditions can take time and patience to be reversed.
People who use homeopathy often find their state of health and general well being improves. They become more able to resist infection and state they have a greater sense of vitality and drive with the demands put upon them in everyday life.
Homeopathy is safe and gentle to use for everyone. If the accurate remedy is prescribed it will stimulate the body into healing. However if a less than accurate remedy is administered it will have little or no effect.
When prescribed appropriately, homeopathic remedies are safe, non-toxic and non-addictive. They can be taken alongside drugs prescribed by your doctor and will not interfere with their beneficial action.
It is safe to use from infancy through to adulthood, in pregnancy and childbirth, and later in life.
