Accupuncture
Acupuncture is part of an integrated and holistic system of Chinese medicine, which has evolved over the last three to five thousand years (the system also includes herbs, massage, exercise and dietary therapy).
Acupuncture uses very fine (disposable) needles to stimulate points on invisible lines of energy beneath the skin's surface, to affect the energy balance of the body and work to restore and maintain health.
Acupuncture is suitable for everybody, including babies and children, although as with any therapy) there maybe certain individuals whom do not respond.
I have practiced Acupuncture in and around Brighton since 1984, specializing in treating women’s health, infertility, pregnancy, birth and the post-natal period. For the last 15 years I have had a special interest and focus on helping women through the menopausal period and aging. I also offer teaching and practical birth preparation sessions and workshops to couples, midwives and birth supporters.
I use acupuncture and, where appropriate, some easy-to-take Chinese patient herbs, in drops or tablet form to enhance its effects. I give all my patients some Chinese dietary advice and details of lifestyle tips to help maintain their well-being.
I am also a Body Control trained Pilates teacher and integrate knowledge of this exercise form with my practice of Chinese medicine to provide preventative exercises against the recurrence of certain problems initially treated with Acupuncture.
I am committed to high professional standards and, with this in mind, am completing a further training in Acupuncture Supervision, so that I can help other practitioners in their Continuing Professional Development, which will soon become mandatory for Acupuncture Council members.
